Service Description

This 6-hour training will provide an overview of Medication-Assisted Treatment (MAT) and evidence-based risk reduction strategies for individuals with substance use disorders. Participants will explore the clinical application of FDA-approved medications for opioid and alcohol use disorders, including buprenorphine, methadone, and naltrexone. The course also addresses risk reduction principles, overdose prevention, naloxone education, fentanyl awareness, and strategies to reduce infectious disease transmission. Designed for behavioral health professionals, this training emphasizes person-centered, trauma-informed, and culturally responsive approaches to care. Participants will strengthen their understanding of stigma reduction, ethical considerations, and the integration of MAT within a comprehensive treatment and recovery-oriented system of care. Upon completion, participants will be able to describe the role of MAT in recovery, apply practical risk reduction strategies, and support clients in making informed decisions that enhance safety, stability, and long-term wellness. NOTICE: Zoom link for training will be sent out 24-48 hours prior to training start time.
